B’H ENGLISH COMMENTARY:
For the period of forty years, when the people of Israel traversed the Sinai Desert previous to their entry into Israel, miraculous "clouds of glory" surrounded and hovered over them, protecting them from the dangers and discomforts of the desert. That’s why; we remember G-d's compassion and reaffirm our trust in His providence by dwelling in a sukkah--a hut of temporary construction with a roof covering of branches--for the duration of the festival. For seven days and nights, we eat all our meals in the sukkah.
We also observe in Sukkoth the Mitzvah of the Four Kinds: an etrog (citron), a lulav (palm frond), three hadassim (myrtle twigs) and two aravot (willow twigs). On each day of Sukkoth (excepting Shabbat), we take the Four Kinds, recite a blessing over them, bring them together in our hands and wave them in all six directions: right, left, forward, backward, up and down. The Midrash says that the Four Kinds represent the various types that contain the people of Israel, whose essential unity we accentuate on Sukkoth.
COMENTARIO EN ESPAÑOL:
La Sucá es una cabaña, en la que estamos temporalmente durante todos los días de Sucot, esto lo hacemos como una muestra simbólica de nuestra fe en la providencia Divina. El techo de la Suca se hace con ramas de árboles, juncos o cañas.
Hay un dicho de los sabios que dice, "La Sucá es la única Mitzvá (precepto) en la que entramos con todo el cuerpo. El techo y las paredes, nos rodean completamente. Estamos enteramente envueltos en esta mitzva, desde nuestro intelecto y emociones hasta nuestros pies físicos. De acuerdo a la Kabala, en cada uno de los siete días de Sucot, nos visitan en nuestra Sucá los siete Ushpizín espirituales, invitados muy especiales; El patriarca Avraham, representando el atributo Divino de Jesed, Bondad.
El patriarca Itzjak, representando Guevurá, Restricción. El patriarca Iaacov, representando Tiferet, Belleza y Balance.
Nuestro gran líder Moisés, representando Netzaj, Eternidad y Perseverancia. Aharón hermano de Moshe y gran Cohen, representando Hod, Esplendor.
Ioséf, representando Yesod, Cohesión y Fundamento. El Rey David, representando Maljut, Soberanía.
La Sucá nos rodea con nuestros visitantes. De esta manera, la Sucá deja ver la simple y bella singularidad de un pueblo arraigado en la individualidad de su Creador. Cuando todo el pueblo de Israel mora en una "única" Sucá, entonces, nuestra unidad trasciende nuestras diferencias.
Por ello el Talmud declara, que es muy apropiado que todo Israel more en una sola Suca.
En la Suca debemos comer desde la noche del viernes 10-2 hasta la tarde del sábado 10/10 inclusive.
La suca debe tener como mínimo tres paredes firmes, un techo de ramas o juncos.
Cuando comemos en la suca pan o tortas, debemos recitar la siguiente bendición: Barúj ata Ado-nai Elo-henu mélej haolám asher kideshánu bemitzvotáv vetzivánu leshev baSuca.
Bendito eres tú, Señor Di-s nuestro, Rey del universo, que nos santifico con sus preceptos y nos ordeno morar en la Suca.
